Our Environment

Rogers Group experts in crushed stone work to improve environmental quality Rogers Group is committed to being a good steward of the environment we work in. Our industry is very strictly regulated by federal, state, county and local laws on air, soil and water quality. We must comply with those laws, or we face serious consequences that could include fines or being closed down.

We believe compliance is a bare minimum, and we work to exceed those requirements because it’s the right thing to do. Our families and neighbors deserve a quality environment to live and work in, so we put extra effort into minimizing any impact on the air, water or soil around our operations.

For example, we use water to minimize dust by spraying it throughout the crushing plant and on roadways in and around our operation. Some locations use truck wheel washes to remove dust and stone from haul trucks before they leave the property, reducing the possibility of dust on the roads. Some locations ask their truckers to tarp (cover) their trucks or use a water spray bar to wet the load to keep dust from coming off the material as the truck travels to its destination. We also employ landscaping, housekeeping, and operational design elements to control and eliminate dust.

Rogers Group experts in crushed stone employ environmental techniques The water used for dust control is recycled by capturing it in settling ponds. The fine particles of stone settle down to the bottom of the ponds, and the clean water on top is pumped back up to the plant for continuing dust control.

And speaking of recycling, Rogers Group recycles all the used oil, filters, cleaning fluids and rags we use to operate and maintain our equipment. A professional service collects these items regularly, and takes them to their site for safe disposal. We also recycle metal from scrap equipment. Any materials like fuel or oil that are temporarily stored on our sites are kept only in above-ground, double-walled tanks to minimize any chance of a spill.
